History of Scania Camp
Scania Camp owes its name to the prestigious Scania Cup tournament, where the journey began. The story started in 1998, when we organized our first clinic focusing on 2PO mechanics. This initial step was an experiment to gauge interest among referees—and it proved successful.
Encouraged by this, in 2000, Lahdo Sharro, an experienced Euroleague referee and the founder of Scania Camp, decided to elevate the experience. He introduced the concept of 3PO mechanics, aiming to teach and popularize this advanced officiating system among referees. This shift marked the real beginning of the camp’s evolution and growth.
From that point onward, Scania Camp has steadily grown in reputation and scope. Today, we are proud to work with some of the best instructors from Euroleague, FIBA, and NBA, offering world-class training to referees.
We are especially proud that many of our former campers are now top FIBA and Euroleague referees. They began their journeys at the Scania Camp clinic, and now, as some of the best referees in Europe, they return to give back. These elite referees are now our instructors, sharing their knowledge and experience to help develop and teach the next generation of referees.
The camp is led by a dedicated team of four experts:
Lahdo Sharro
Daniel Tiberg
Kasia Zabłocka
Michał Poniatowski
Together, we strive to provide the best possible learning experience, continuously improving our methods to help referees at all levels reach their full potential.
